These emails showcase a variety of exchanges including Wasserman telling Maxwell, "I think of you all the time. So, what do I have to do to see you in a tight leather outfit?"
Further exchanges involve discussions around massages. In one message, Maxwell inquires if it will be foggy during an upcoming visit so that "you can float naked down the beach and no one can see you unless they are close up." Wasserman replies in a casual tone, "or something like that." These messages occurred long before Maxwell was publicly accused and convicted of her crimes.
On Saturday, Wasserman issued a statement regarding the content of the emails. He expressed deep regret for his communications with Maxwell, specifying that these took place well before her serious criminal activities became known. The statement read, "I never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. As is well documented, I went on a humanitarian trip as part of a delegation with the Clinton Foundation in 2002 on the Epstein plane. I am terribly sorry for having any association with either of them."
Maxwell was convicted in 2021 on five counts related to sex trafficking and the abuse of minors, leading to a 20-year prison sentence. The release of these documents followed a legislative mandate requiring the government to make public their files related to Epstein and Maxwell. Epstein died by suicide in a New York jail cell in August 2019, just a month after being federally charged with sex trafficking.
