Kianna Underwood, who gained recognition as a child actress on Nickelodeon, tragically lost her life in a hit-and-run accident in New York City on Friday morning. The 33-year-old was crossing an intersection within Brooklyn's Brownsville area when the incident occurred.
According to law enforcement authorities, Underwood was initially hit by a black Ford Explorer SUV as she attempted to cross the street. Following this collision, while she remained on the roadway, she was struck again by a second vehicle described as a black and gray sedan. Emergency responders confirmed Underwood's death at the scene of the accident.
Both drivers involved in the accident departed from the location before police arrival and have not yet been identified. Investigators with the New York Police Department continue to work to locate and hold accountable those responsible for the tragic event.
Underwood's television career included several notable roles as a child star. She appeared in seven episodes of the popular Nickelodeon sketch comedy series "All That" in 2005. Prior to that, she provided the voice for the character Fuschia Glover on the Nick Jr. program "Little Bill" from 1999 to 2004. Additionally, she performed as Little Inez during the national tour of the musical "Hairspray" for a year.
"All That" was the final credited role of Underwood's acting career. The show itself was instrumental in launching the careers of multiple entertainers, such as Nick Cannon, Kenan Thompson, and Amanda Bynes, over its decade-long broadcast run.
